First International Snakebite Awareness Day Celebrations
The first “International Snake Bite Awareness Day (ISBAD)” was inaugurated on 19th September 2018, by the Department of Medicine in association with other leading health centers and civil society groups across the world. Many members of the CMC Poison Centre which was established later spearheaded the organisation of the first ISBAD commemoration at CMC, Vellore
The main focus of this event was to draw attention to the neglected global problem of snakebites and create public awareness regarding important venomous Indian snake species, prevention of snake bites, and appropriate first aid care.
